How to make a wholesale line sheet from your Shopify products

A wholesale buyer expects a line sheet: the products, the options, and a wholesale price. MakeSheet builds that from the products already in Shopify, as a grid, a size and colour matrix, or a PDF catalogue.

The problem

The catalogue in Shopify is built for retail. A trade buyer wants a shorter document: one collection or one tag, wholesale prices rather than the shop price, and a way to write quantities. Copying titles, photos, options and prices into a slide or a spreadsheet is slow, and the file is out of date the next time you add a product.

Doing it by hand

Most shops export a product CSV, delete the columns a buyer should not see, paste photos into a document, and type a wholesale price as a percent off retail. It is a fair one-off. It is a poor habit, because the next season starts from a blank file again, and there is no order form with an empty Quantity column unless you add one yourself.

Build the sheet with MakeSheet

MakeSheet reads the products you choose and lays them out as a buyer-ready sheet. Sheets autosave, and the app keeps 10 versions. Large catalogues render in the background.

  1. Install MakeSheet from the Shopify App Store and open it in the Shopify admin. The install button is on the MakeSheet listing (opens in a new tab).
  2. Choose the layout: a grid line sheet, a size and colour matrix, or a PDF catalogue with a cover and a back page.
  3. Pick the products by collection, tag, vendor or product type, or tick a manual list. A collection or a tag is the usual way to make a seasonal sheet without selecting every product.
  4. Set the price from retail, a percent off, or the compare-at price. On Plus you can use a Shopify B2B price list, including its quantity rules.
  5. Add your branding. MakeSheet stores a logo you upload. Plus adds custom fonts, and can include metafields. The free plan adds a small footer and has no watermark.
  6. Download an A4 or US Letter PDF. On Pro and Plus, download an XLSX or CSV order form. The form has an empty Quantity column and line totals, so the buyer can fill in what they want.
  7. On Pro and Plus, create a share link when you would rather send a link than a file. Revoke the link when that buyer should no longer have it.

The free plan is one saved sheet and up to 50 products. Pro raises that to unlimited sheets and 500 products, and adds share links and the order forms. Plus removes the product cap and adds B2B price lists, quantity rules, custom fonts and metafields. Prices for those plans are on the App Store listing.

Tips

Ask an assistant

MakeSheet can take a content import through the Oskivo connector. An assistant can preview that import, for example photos and descriptions pulled into a line sheet, before anything is saved. The app itself is still where you choose the collection, the layout and the price rule. Read access is the default until you turn on write access for MakeSheet in the Shopify admin.

Questions

Which products can I put on the line sheet?

Pick them by collection, tag, vendor or product type, or choose a manual list. You do not have to put the whole catalogue on one sheet.

How are the wholesale prices worked out?

Price the sheet from retail, a percent off, or the compare-at price. On Plus you can use a Shopify B2B price list, including its quantity rules.

Can I send the sheet to a buyer?

Pro and Plus include a share link you can revoke, plus an XLSX or CSV order form with an empty Quantity column and line totals. You can also download an A4 or US Letter PDF.
